Information about Kanay
AVAILABLE TO TUTOR ONLINE. Hi there! I am a final year medical student at Imperial College London with a Higher Education Teaching Accreditation (AFHEA). I am an experienced tutor who specialises in teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics up to A-Level. As a senior medical student, I am also able to coach students through university applications as well as UKCAT and BMAT preparations. I have special interests in Neuroscience and have graduated with a 1st class degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health (BSc) from Imperial College London, where I remain as a final year medical student to complete my medical degree (MBBS). I have enjoyed learning sciences, philosophy and psychology from a young age, and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching those subjects at a higher level for quite a few years now.
Approach to Tutoring:
I am currently working towards a professional teaching accreditation from the Higher Education Authority. I believe it is very important to teach in a collaborative and interactive way to most engage the student, as that is how we best learn. After meeting the student, I begin by creating goals to work towards and a clear schedule to achieve them. The tools and methods I employ at medical school to help me learn complex concepts are the very same I teach to my students in order to help them excel in their exams.
I remain very passionate about the sciences to this day and still enjoy difficult mathematics problems. Having completed these subjects with a A*s at A-Level, achieving 100% in Biology and Chemistry A2-Level exams, I am confident in not only sharing knowledge in a creative way but also teaching effective exam technique.

Experience: I have been tutoring on a one-to-one and group basis for over 5 years, and so have accumulated extensive experience in teaching, especially at GCSE and A-Level. I have experience tutoring all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) from primary school level up to A-Level, and some to university level. This experience allows me to tailor each subject for the students level and their personal approach to learning.
Having obtained a place at one of the top medical schools and universities in the world, I am also confident in helping with university applications. I have had the pleasure of previously coaching students with their personal statements and university applications to great success, with many students achieving their first-choice university.
In my medical school, I also take part in delivering lectures to younger medical students, as well as tutoring other students on a one-to-one basis. As part of my medical school education, I also attend formal teaching events where I can gain tools to further my teaching skills. As mentioned earlier, I am currently working towards obtaining professional teaching accreditation from the Higher Education Academy (Associate Fellowship), which involves careful reflection and the use of professional educationalist methods in my teaching.
