Hi I`m Chris, an experienced English teacher, examiner and tutor. I have been a tutor for approximately 15 years and supported numerous students to achieve their goals during this time.
I offer one-to-one tuition and can help with:
-literacy
-coursework/NEA (A Level)
-exam preparation
-essay writing technique
-revision
At GCSE I specialise in teaching the AQA specification for both English Language and Literature, though I am experienced in teaching the EDUQAS and Edexcel specifications too.
I have also marked GCSE English Language exams for AQA for 10 years including GCSE English Language (paper 2) exam, so can offer expert advice on this area of the course
At A Level I specialise in teaching AQA English Literature (specifications A and B).
Please note: I do not teach English Language at A Level.
I aim to build a positive, supportive rapport with each student and adapt to meet his or her needs.
Availability: Current availability:
Weekdays mornings, afternoons and some evenings.
Other times are at my discretion (rescheduling due to other commitments or holiday sessions).

Experience: KS3, GCSE and A Level English Literature.
16 years experience in education: 1 as a teaching assistant, 1 as a PGCE student and 14 as a teacher (2 years as assistant head of department)
10 years as an AQA examiner for GCSE English Language.

Chris is an incredible tutor. He helped my son during the last couple of months for his GCSE English lit and language. My son looked forward to the lessons, they were never a chore, because Chris made them so engaging. The lessons seemed the perfect balance of making him work hard, but not switching him off. Chris tailored each lesson to my son`s needs and even created papers based on my son`s football interests to inspire him. The feedback from my son was "That was the best lesson ever". Chris sent work to do before the lesson, and followed up with feedback after the lesson so my son was learning all week in-between the sessions. Chris went over and above, and I only hope Chris is still tutoring when son number 2 is doing his exams! Thank you so much Chris.

Chris provided tuition for GCSE English Language and Literature and based on our experience I would highly recommend him. His in depth knowledge of the curriculum and exam technique enabled him to be very flexible and personalise each session, with a focus on what my son needed. He also provided feedback in a very constructive way, highlighting what was done well and giving suggestions for improvements.
