Information about Emma
I graduated from Bristol University with an MEng in Engineering Maths. I decided that an engineering career was not for me so I completed my PGCE and have been teaching maths ever since. I have 17 years teaching experience in schools, the last 8 of those in a 6th form college. I have an extensive knowledge of the current A-Level Maths and Further Maths specifications and their exam papers. I have been tutoring online full time since January 2022 and I use a variety of resources in lessons including collaborative whiteboards and calculator emulators, including the CG50 graphical calculator.
Availability: Flexible times, evenings and daytimes. I can do one off lessons as well as regular sessions.

Experience: After my PGCE I taught for 9 years in a secondary school, teaching from yr 7 to Yr 13. After this I taught for 8 years in a sixth form college, teaching both Maths and Further Maths. The lockdowns have given me a lot of experience teaching online. I left my teaching job at the beginning of 2022 to focus on online tutoring. I use shared whiteboards so we can both see and edit the same document and I prepare notes, examples and questions before the lessons. I can very quicky find and add additional resources if needed during the lesson. You will have access to the document after the lesson to look back at and I will set and mark homework as needed.

Emma is brilliant and we highly recommend her. She prepared our son for his A Level maths exams over the 4 months before he sat them. We only wish we had found her sooner as she erased all the panic and exam dread he/we were experiencing. Emma steered him in his work, explained concepts in an easy to understand way, was always prepared before they met and was patient and lovely with him. His results exceeded expectations and he couldn’t have done it without Emma’s excellent teaching and support.

Emma helped my daughter with specific topics, particularly Further Maths Mechanics. Emma was always highly prepared for the lesson by preparing any questions and topics beforehand, and helped direct my daughter to useful revision sites and resources.

Emma is an excellent tutor! Well worth the investment! Her lessons are well planned out so you actually get a lot done in the hour you sign up for. Equally, she sets work in between lessons, has a vast amount of resources that she draws from. My daughter has found the lessons a real help and we will definitely be using her more frequently.
