Information about Keeley
A primary school tutor passionate about learning.
I am currently studying Primary Education at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln, due to graduate as a qualified primary teacher in July. I am passionate about learning and I am always motivated to learn more and improve my skills! This is something I believe all children should be encouraged to do.
I prefer the "firm but friendly" approach to teaching, which means that although I have expectations of work, I want the children to feel safe and comfortable in all of my lessons, ensuring that I am considered an approachable adult to every child. A good rapport with children is vital to their success, as with the required scaffolding to support them, their highest potential will be achieved.
Finally, education is all about learning, and learning is about having fun! Every child should have the opportunity to enjoy learning and to want to find out more. I aim to encourage creativity and inquisition in all of my students, developing their education for the future.
Availability: I am available both during the weekdays and evenings. I could potentially be available at weekends too.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have a wide subject knowledge in English, Maths and Science, as well as most foundation subjects. I also hold an A level in German. I believe that the most important role as a tutor/teacher is to adapt to the individual child`s needs. Five further minutes of explanation can go a long way in understanding a certain topic. I strongly believe in individual learning styles and that every child`s success begins when they learn in their desired way. This is something that I can help the child figure out, and then support them in learning in this way.
I hold various types of experience with young children, including an enhanced DBS check. I have taught in many primary schools across both Derbyshire and Lincolnshire, for both work experience and university placement. This has included whole class teaching which has involved the use of effective behaviour management. I have been graded as an Outstanding teacher at the end of my degree, and will be qualified as of July.
