Information about Kate
I am an experienced and qualified secondary school teacher with a Masters degree in Mathematics. As my husband has now retired I am limiting my teaching to tutoring from the second week of February 2023 and specialising in GCSE students taking their exam in May / June 2023 covid permitting as we both have underlying health conditions.
I am currently offering new students from this site one half price lesson.
Availability: I tutor Tuesday to Thursday after school but also during the day for mature students / out of school students.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have taught Maths in a range of secondary schools in the UK (Liverpool, Haringey, Dronfield Woodhouse and Basildon) and in two schools in Zimbabwe with VSO, an International Development Charity. My MSc in Mathematical Modelling qualification enabled me to re-join VSO, this time working in their International HQ in London recruiting teachers for their Aid programme. I returned to the East Midlands to be close to my ageing Mother and worked for 3 years in a local secondary school as a Data Manager, where I additionally did 1-1 tutoring. I launched my tutoring business in November 2013 and I am enjoying my return to teaching immensely with more of my students coming form word of mouth recommendations. Self-employment also enabling me to care for my 91-year-old Mother until she died in late 2018.
