Information about Peju

Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel (Socrates). My quest as a Tutor is to find the flame in each student I encounter and ignite it!

I am excited about helping young minds open up to the power and delights of learning, to inspire them to experience a paradigm shift - I permit questioning, thinking "outside the box" and refusing to settle for mediocre standards. The result is the emergence of independent, informed and articulate learners.

I tutor with a long-term vision. Helping students pass their exams is not my only focus. It is only part of the big picture. Nowadays, more and more organisations are keen to employ students who have more than just academic skills, they are looking for people with employability skills - those who will stand out for more than just their class-taught knowledge.

So, along with tutoring, I also mentor my students (age notwithstanding) to think big and consider what part they want to play in changing their corner of the world as admirable global citizens. I encourage them to think about their resilience, their curiosity to understand the world around them, their eagerness to learn and become team players, their leadership qualities and their empathy for others who are different to them.

Long after my tutoring sessions end, I would like my students to pursue and enjoy a lifelong love of learning. My approach is on an individual basis. No two students are the same so I tailor my style to suit each student with an approach that is relaxed yet firm.

I thoroughly enjoy creative and spontaneous writing and have written poetry and short articles (some published) since I was a young girl. I recently set up a blog to inspire women on various aspects of life and well being.

Availability: Weekdays - 9.30am - 2.30pm
Weekday evenings (some flexibility)

I am currently able to offer intensive tutoring sessions tailored for younger students over the half term breaks and longer holidays.

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I strongly believe that learning can be enjoyed by everyone so I work with students from where they are and inspire them to reach higher and further. My work with The Prince`s Trust enabled me to work with young people who had been excluded or disengaged from formal education, offering them alternative opportunities to gain skills and equip themselves for the working world.

My Teaching qualification has opened avenues for me to teach SEN, GCSE English Language, ESOL, TEFL, Creative Writing, Comprehension, Study Skills and different branches of Law, Criminology, Business and Marketing with students across different levels of education. I`ve helped prepare students for academic milestones in primary and secondary school and support university students with assignments and final dissertations.

I was the Student Representative for my Law class at university and acted as a liaison between the students and members of staff. This boosted my public speaking skills and developed my awareness of key issues affecting both students and staff in a learning environment. As a result, I`m able to offer bespoke tutoring sessions in Elocution and Public Speaking.

I also worked as an external Assessor for an organisation that trains Head Teachers and exceptional Middle Managers in schools across the country. This role gave me a bird`s eye view into the power of quality leadership within a school environment and how that inspiration needs to trickle down to every student at every level for real progress to be made.
