Information about Maahir

Hi! I`m Maahir. I`m a 22 year old student who has a huge passion for Maths. I have loved Maths ever since I set foot into primary school and have loved it ever since. I have taken part in national competitions in Maths and was awarded a Distinction in the British Maths Olympiad Round 1 in 2017. I hope to use my mathematical prowess and the logical thinking that is associated with it in my career in law.

In my spare time, I love participating in and watching sport. My favourites are football, tennis and swimming. I am a huge Arsenal fan (come on you Gunners!) and supporter of Rafa Nadal.

Fun fact: I may look Indian from my profile picture and though I am originally, both my parents are Kenyan and grew up in Mombasa.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have worked for CleverClogs previously from November 2020 to January 2021 helping students from primary school level and secondary school level. I have also briefly tutored for My Tutor. Aside from that, I am still a relatively new tutor and hope to hone my skills and share my love and passion for Maths.

With Maths it`s all about practise. Practise practise practise. I`m a big advocate of past paper practise especially. They are the most accurate representation of what is likely to come up in future exam papers, and serve as a good barometer of the level a student is at and what they need work on. If there are many past papers, more often than not you will see similar questions repeating and this is where the benefit of doing them really kicks in. Independent learning is of course ideal and that`s what I aim to encourage. Where I hope to be of use is helping students understand the concepts that they struggle with and providing a calm and reassuring approach to solidify what they have learnt in order to apply them to similar scenarios.
