Information about Stan

I`m a maths tutor who loves turning complex ideas into simple, "Oh - I get it!" steps.

Double-MSc Mathematics grad from the universities of Leiden & Bordeaux - trained with a specialism in algebra and geometry.

First-Class BSc from Durham University - overall average in the top 10% of my year.

I`ve presented my work at international seminars - including USTC`s Future Mathematician International Summer Camp - so I`m comfortable adapting explanations to different levels and learning styles.

Lesson style: calm, structured, and individually tailored. We`ll explore the different ways to solve a problem, pick the method that fits your thinking, then apply it to exam-style questions so it sticks.

Resources: I provide bespoke, LaTeX-typed notes and solutions - LaTeX = professional mathematical typesetting - that recap exactly what we covered with clear steps and exam-style examples.

Availability: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: - ALGANT Excellence Scholar (2023–25); advanced coursework spanning algebraic geometry & algebraic number theory, category theory, and post-quantum cryptography.

- BSc Mathematics (weighted average of 84.0%, top 10% of cohort), Durham; thesis ranked top of class and selected for departmental colloquium.

- Quantum Safety Research Assistant, Statistics Netherlands (CBS), collaborating with UNECE HLG-MOS; presented findings in Feb 2024.

- Quantum Computing Researcher, Centre for Particle Theory (Durham): applied higher-order Fourier analysis and random-matrix methods to the analysis of quantum circuits.

- Delivered invited presentations, including USTC’s Future Mathematician International Summer Camp and a Durham Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) seminar.
