Hello! I am an experienced teacher of 20 years specialising in English and history up to A-level. Currently working as Assistant Head Teacher and Faculty Leader of the Human Studies department at the "Outstanding" graded Upper Wharfedale School in North Yorkshire. I also have considerable and valuable experience as an examination marker. Highly experienced at tutoring face to face or via skype/teams/Zoom. Particular track record of success with borderline students at GCSE and students with English as an additional language.
I also offer IGCSE to international students and have worked effectively and successfully with students from Australia, Japan, Caribbean and South America.
Hopefully, my feedback backs up my promise to offer a professional yet friendly approach to tutoring.
I live in near Knaresborough with my wife and two children and and enjoy running and travelling.

We can’t thank John enough for the tutoring that he has given our son during his GCSEs. John has really helped to build our son’s confidence in answering the questions on the English papers and helped to raise his grades from a 3 to a 5 in his last mocks. Thank you John for all that you have done and we’ll update you when the results are in!

Whilst only tutoring my son for a short period prior to GCSE’s John has given my son great support improving his knowledge & exam technique as well as his confidence.
