I have a degree in chemistry from the University of Bath and I have worked in various teaching roles over the last 10 years. I offer tuition and exam preparation for GCSE science, A Level chemistry and physics and undergraduate chemistry (including HNC and HND qualifications). I aim to help students develop a greater scientific and mathematical understanding of science, alongside teaching practical exam and revision techniques.

During this period of lockdown I am aware that many students continue to be concerned about their studies. I am available over the summer months to help prepare students for the next academic years` course content and exams. Equally, I am happy to do catch up work on what has been missed during this lockdown period, of which a tailored plan can be made.

Availability: I am available to teach any day of the week at almost any time to suit, except for Sunday evening.

Experience: I have taught science and sport to all ages and abilities in colleges of further education and across Europe and Hong Kong. I have tutored GCSE students, A level students and adults who are retraining and/or undertaking CPD courses. I have also tutored undergraduate scientists and postgraduate students undertaking exams, including doctors, dentists and school teachers that did not study pure chemistry at university or A level.

I have a vast range of exam board specific resources and provide traditional tuition that is consolidated with exercises to confirm knowledge and understanding. With regards to GCSEs, A levels and undergraduate study, I put a strong emphasis on students learning how to interpret exam questions and how to answer them. Often students struggle to provide answers that warrant top marks because they haven`t fully understood the question and cannot see where the examiners are trying to test them. I also spend time developing a students maths skills. Students often get confused with the maths involved in chemistry and with a little help and training in maths methodology, they can become very capable exam candidates. The key to getting a great exam result is not just about having boundless knowledge, its about partnering that knowledge with great exam technique.
