Information about Isabella

I am nineteen years old and a confident Spanish speaker. I finished college last year and, having secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study History and Politics, I have dedicated this year to travelling and becoming fluent in Spanish. Therefore, I am interested in tutoring both Spanish and History.

I am fully aware of how challenging it is to learn a new language, and I am excited by the opportunity to inspire other young people. I have a strong understanding of the criteria required for success at GCSE and A-Level, and I will be able to tailor the lessons to suit whatever particular area the student would like to focus on, whether it be grammar or conversation. I aim to provide enjoyable lessons, which I hope will inspire the student to continue to pursue the language beyond school and college.

I am very excited to be studying History and Politics next year. At A-Level, I studied US History from 1865-1975 and the English Civil War, so I have a particular depth of knowledge in these areas. Nevertheless, regardless of which History paper the student is studying, I will be able to offer guidance regarding how to produce successful essays, analyse sources and interpretations, and write coursework worthy of full marks.

Availability: I am available from 8.00 am to 20.00 pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and Fridays. Weekend hours can be organised at request.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I achieved 9 A*s at GCSE, and an A in Spanish, an A in History and a B in English Literature at A Level. I received an unconditional offer to study History and Politics at the University of Cambridge with deferred entry, starting October 2019.

I have recently returned from three months living in Costa Rica, where I volunteered teaching English to primary school children and also assisted with their Spanish lessons. I spoke almost entirely in Spanish whilst volunteering. Last year, I lived in Spain for nearly two months and worked as an Au Pair, during which time I spoke entirely in Spanish to the parents and in both English and Spanish to the children.
