A critical thinker, life-long learner, with 26 years post graduate qualification and work experience, who is very passionate about education and young people, committed to improving numeracy and literacy, for all ability groups, given knowledge of their importance to employment and life opportunities; with the ability to employ and deploy dynamic teaching strategies, resources, learning styles and best practice, to maximise experiential learning, active participation, maintain and promote good classroom behaviour, through the synthesis and presentation of concepts and instructions in a clear, interconnected manner, to empower students’ independence and thinking skills.

Experience: I currently teach maths, at a school, in Kent. I am a fully qualified maths teacher, with experience of working in London and Kent schools. I possess a Masters in Information Systems and Technology, with 8 years experience in the sector. I made a career change to education and teaching in 2003 and have since worked in the sector.

Given my relevant industry qualifications, knowledge and experience, I am able to effectively employ, deploy and promote information technology in the learning of mathematics, academically, and vocationally, with a view of developing and enhancing essential soft skills that the subject offers - logical and analytical thinking, process definition and problem solving, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Mathematical concepts, topics and ideas, are logically interconnected, therefore, it is essential, that teaching and learning is dispensed in the same manner, through effective content selection, simulating examples and modelling, questioning to identify current level and resolve knowledge gaps, together with continuous and iterative assessment methods.

I am able to further learners` understanding, identify and bridge knowledge gaps, through experience and understanding of the importance of topics dependencies together with the need to develop and embed important elements of examination board specifications and expectations.

Another important factor, in gaining better and improved knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts is skills in numeracy, literacy and their application in solving mathematical problems; equally important is algebra and spatial awareness.

I possess the knowledge and ability to establish the best programme of study, for individual learners, monitor progress and provide informative diagnostics framework for developing mathematical skills, resolving knowledge gaps, maths and or examination anxieties.

To do this, my approach is learner-centred - based on interests, needs and preferences of the learner(s), their family or carers, together with other informative sources where available or relevant - school reports, past and projected grades or assessment results.

I am able to offer varied mode of learning - face to face, online, small groups of family members or peers - supported by a wealth of resources, qualifications, experience, together with an infectious enthusiasm for the subject and development of same in learners.

Therefore, whatever, your needs are - learner and family - I am open to informal discussions, with a view of formulating the best plan of action which can be reviewed and refined accordingly.
