Information about Oliver
A passionate and enthusiastic tutor with a proven track record of student success in both Maths and English. I enjoy working with students of all ages and abilities, however I would say that my specialism is supporting GCSE students, who are not currently achieving that all-important pass grade in these mandatory subjects, gain a pass so they can move on in their education.
Students are faced with difficult and often life-changing decisions with regards to their education from a very young age and schooling can place huge amounts of pressure onto them. I feel that if this process can be eased through proper tuition and support then it should make for a better all-round experience.
I work with students 1:1 or in groups of 2-3 study-buddies. I encourage group work as much as possible because it allows students to bounce-off and collaborate with their peers while making them accountable to each other to get the work done. Parents also then have a wider support network for their children. Group sessions also carry a large hourly discount per student.
In my experience, most students are not lacking knowledge, they lack confidence. My main focus is building confidence as a foundation to then either spark an enjoyment of the subject or build-up their skill base to achieve their chosen grade.
I aim to make learning enjoyable and engaging and hope to pass on my own passion for the subjects.

Experience: I have had a wide and varied career, from working alongside students in secondary schools to corporate management roles in Marketing, Events, and PR.
The student success-rate from my private tuition has been outstanding which I put down to my personable approach that focusses on the individual, rather than the subject.
I have worked as a Progress and Intervention Mentor at The Grove Secondary School working primarily with KS4 students in core subjects. I worked with students of all abilities and 1:1 with SEN children. I also volunteered for weekly A-Level revision classes in Economics.
