Information about Charlotte
Hi, I`m Charlotte and I have just received a First Class Degree in a BA in Medical Sciences at Oxford University, where I will be continuing my training to become a doctor.
I am a fun, friendly tutor with a lot of experience so I can tailor my lessons to your needs! In my lessons, I like to start with a brief overview of the topic, and then typically we explore specific parts of the topic in more depth. I like to use past exam questions to make sure my students have a good understanding and are able to apply this knowledge to exam-style questions.
For me, an in-depth understanding is really important in order to truly love a subject and want to study it. I want students to not only do well in an exam, but enjoy it too. So if you`re finding science a bit of a slog, hopefully I can show you how interesting it can be! I usually make my own worksheets and PowerPoints to make lessons more engaging, as well as diagrams, as these are.a brilliant way to explain difficult scientific concepts. Ultimately, I really enjoy teaching the subjects I love and want my students to enjoy their lessons and succeed in these subjects, so my aim is to be flexible in my teaching style so that I can adapt to my students.
I am happy to tutor students in KS3 Physics, GCSE Chemistry, Maths, and English Language, and A Level Biology. I can also help with the 11+, having had experience of taking the exam myself to get into my secondary school.
As well as subjects, I can help students with their applications for medical school, including interview preparation and personal statement writing, and can tailor this for Oxbridge applications. I took both the UKCAT and BMAT so I can help prepare you for these exams as well.
Availability: I am very flexible - contact me and we can arrange a time that suits you! Lessons will have to take place online.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Throughout sixth form and university I have tutored five students in a variety of subjects, largely focussing on Maths and Science. This work was independent and via a tutoring company in Oxford. All of my students have achieved at least one grade higher than what was initially predicted.
I tailor my lessons to what the student wants to focus on and ensure that it is specific to their exam board. As I have had a lot of experience, over the years I have been able to compile a wide variety of resources for each subject, allowing me to be selective about my teaching style for individuals.
