Information about Philippe
I taught physics for 18 years at the Florida State University, the University of Cambridge and the University of Edinburgh before starting my own business (photography/video production).
During all those teaching years, I enjoyed one to one interaction with students much more than the lecturing (which is a very inefficient way for the students to learn, by the way).
I thought I could give back and share my expertise with young people. I recently got the following message from a former Cambridge PhD student of mine who is now a partner in a major financial institution in London:
`Dear Philippe,
I have been trying to contact you a couple of time (admittedly sporadically) but without success. As time passes, I increasingly feel that I want to stay in touch. You have influenced my life and thinking a lot and I may now be in a position to share some of what I have experienced and learned since leaving Cambridge.`
That really made me think how much teaching can do for people, and that it would be a shame if I didn`t share my knowledge of maths and physics.
