Lucy

Lucy has had years of teaching experience and loves teaching adults and children alike. She tailors her teaching style to suit each pupil`s needs, and has had fantastic reviews from her students. Many of her students have sat Trinity and ABRSM exams, all with a 100% pass rate.

Lucy has tutored classes for university students at the New Zealand School of Music. For three years she taught keyboard skills, music theory and aural at NZSM, as well as conducting student examinations and marking written work.

Lucy is able to travel to your house for lessons. A travel fee will apply.

24 hours` notice is required for cancellations, except in the case of illness.
Lessons are to be paid for on the day.

London-based New Zealand cellist and pianist Lucy graduated in July 2018 with an Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music, London. As an RCM Scholar, she graduated top of her class under the tutelage of Thomas Carroll. She completed her Bachelor of Music in cello and piano performance with first-class Honors in 2014, and in 2015 completed her Master of Musical Arts at the New Zealand School of Music.

Lucy has recently been a contract player with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and she regularly performs throughout the UK, Europe, and Australasia. Lucy has been concerto soloist with the Wellington Youth Orchestra playing Elgar`s cello concerto, and has also performed as soloist with the Michael Monaghan Young Musician`s Foundation Orchestra and the Tawa Orchestra. In 2018, she was a prizewinner at the RCM Cello Competition.

Whilst still in high school, she gained DipABRSM cello performance, and DipABRSM and LTCL in piano performance, both with distinction. She received the Hedy King Robinson award twice for excellence in music theory exams.
