Experience: I have been tutoring equivalent of A-levels students in Italy from 2012 until now. I used to work with them in person but when I moved to the UK I started to work via Skype or Face-time. My students all attended the same high-school of mine, a very prestigious high-school in Turin called Liceo Classico Vittorio Alfieri and the majority of them succeded in getting a place in competitive degrees sich a Medicine at the Universita` degli Studi di Torino or Biomedical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
Since I moved to the UK, I have been mentoring students of the year below me at university in Biology and Chemistry and I have been teaching Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics to GCSE and A-Levels students. I also offer BMAT, UCAT tutoring and medical school interview tutoring.
My teaching approach is based on encouraging the students to find out their own weaknesses by challenging them with difficult tasks on in the first 2/3 sessisons and once we find out together what is that we need to work on, I tailor my lessons according to how long their attention lasts and to what are their expectations. I tend to thrieve for the best, but I always do what the students or the parents of the student ask me to do without putting extra pressure on them.
I do use many online tools fot teaching and with regards to text books I use the ones that the students are already using and I try to follow their curriculum.
I expect my students to commincate with me by telling me exactly what is clear and what is not clear and I will make sure to go over everything again. I try to avoid redundancy and focus on the weaknesses rather than dedicating the same time to everything.
