My name is Matt. I am a qualified Geography teacher from Devon and have also recently taught History to GCSE students.
Having obtained a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Geography from Swansea University, I have a proven-record of being a hardworking and motivated individual, which is reflected through my excellent grades at University, A-Level and GCSE. Masterclass Education February 2020- April 2020
Working for Masterclass Education as a supply teacher across different secondary schools in Devon. Although primarily a qualified Geography teacher, this role has allowed me to teach different subject areas for a prolonged period of time, such as History and PE, whilst also giving me an insight into other subject areas such as Music, Science, Maths, English and Modern Foreign Languages. It has also built upon my excellent ICT, leadership and communication skills. This role has further enhanced my superb behavioural management techniques, whilst also allowing me to further develop my problem-solving skills, be that from not having lesson plans or teaching subjects that I am not a specialist in.


Sidmouth College Geography Teacher September 2018- July 2019
Working at Sidmouth College as a Geography teacher for all school years from Year 7-12 whilst also being a tutor for 28 students from Year 7-11. This has allowed me to teach students of all ages and abilities, being accountable for Year 11s in their GCSE year alongside teaching A-level and Key Stage 3. I have helped run and plan fieldwork trips and have planned and delivered my own schemes of work for all year groups. I have also run Rugby and Cricket clubs, whilst also assisting in the running of a cricket tour to Cornwall. The role has given me invaluable independence and experience within a classroom, whilst also increasing my ICT skills, leadership, communication and teamwork skills.

Training within an Ofsted graded Outstanding School, I have currently completed my first placement at Uffculme School as part of my Geography Schools Direct training. My current placement, starting in January has been at Cullompton Community College, working towards completing a PGCE from Exeter University. This has entailed planning and delivering lessons from all year groups from Year 7-11
