Information about Archie

I am an enthusiastic first year student reading MEng Materials Science at the University of Oxford. I specialise chemistry, maths and physics.

Having sat my A level exams less than a year ago, I still regularly use the knowledge gained from school in my degree course. I achieved A*s in physics and maths and an A in chemistry, demonstrating my comprehensive understanding of all the syllabuses from year 10 through to year 13.

As an outgoing and confident student of the sciences, I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for the subject with others. I believe it is important to incorporate an individual`s interests in the scheme of work in order to not only equip pupils for their upcoming exams, but also to help them consider their future career paths and opportunities.

Having passed through Oxford University’s rigorous admissions process, I appreciate how useful help with university applications can be. I would be happy to assist pupils in writing their UCAS application as part of lessons, as well as provide perspective on university admissions as a whole.

Availability: Due to the current pandemic, I can only tutor online. I have a webcam and microphone so students will be able to follow along with example questions and diagrams just as they would be able to in person.

I am available to teach every weekday. Pupils can contact me to organise lessons at a time that suits them.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I am a fully qualified tennis coach certified by the LTA. In my role as a coach I have led groups of students as well as working one to one. This experience helped to develop my ability to both instruct and listen to feedback and I am keen to apply these skills in an academic setting.

I was also selected to be a peer listener at my school and have received training in order to help me better understand problems that students face. I feel this has taught me how to encourage students in a positive way and help them overcome obstacles and any worries they may have.
