Fully qualified biology teacher with over ten years experience living in Stourbridge with my Historian husband and our dog, Maude, I`m an enthusiastic biologist and a someone that really likes to tailor teaching to the individual students as much as possible. Ofsted graded outstanding, I`ve worked as an IT and teaching and learning mentor to other teachers.
Prior to working in Education I worked in the NHS which has been immeasurably useful as a biology teacher as it`s provided me with plenty of real life examples of abstract concepts as well as the ability to advise students interested in going on to study medicine and medical related fields.
When not teaching we can be found walking the dog, reading nerdy books and playing a totally brutal game of scrabble.
Availability: Currently at capacity, contact for waitlist or online lessons only.
As I don`t drive, I tutor from home or in local town/coffee shop/library etc. I can fit sessions around students free periods.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Teaching biology for over ten years, mostly at A-Level (across all the boards) but also at GCSE too. Have worked in variety of settings, from inner city London, to local top ten college and online for a flexible learning team for students unable to access a school setting.Contact this Tutor
My first teaching job was in a brand new sixth form college in Tottenham, London, where we designed the biology curriculum from scratch and were able to ensure the majority of these London students got to university, whether they were studying BTEC or A Level.
It was in this post I became especially interested in the role of IT within education, I lead a team in the development of the VLE and technology embedded learning across the college.
From here I expanded my experience out into schools, teaching KS3/4 and 5 science/biology in schools in deprived areas and a school in Hertfordshire.
A move back home to the Midlands meant a return to sixth form teaching A level biology and BTEC at a college in Solihull, before being approached to apply to a top ten college in Stourbridge where I was an IT mentor, Teaching and Learning mentor and a deputy head of faculty for Maths and Science. My lessons were always consistently outstanding, and I continued to lead on technology and develop paperlight learning programmes.
Most recently have been working for an Ill health team working with individual students, teaching solely online and adapting the materials to the specific needs of the students I worked with. Am currently a full time self employed tutor
The creative adaptation of course materials to make them accessible is one of the things I like best about teaching, so you can be reassured that every effort will be made to support you through your course.
