I am working as a full-time tutor but am also an Edexcel Examiner for GCSE Maths. I have a degree in Mathematics from Bristol University and completed my PGCE (teacher training) at Oxford University.
After completing my PGCE, I spent the next 14+ years teaching from KS2-KS5 (mostly KS3-5). I have taught in both State and Independent schools (most recently, 9 years at an Independent school), also supporting students by offering home tutoring, which was carried out alongside my teaching in schools. As a teacher in an Independent school, I routinely marked ISEB 13+ Common Entrance Exam papers, and have been involved in deciding whether candidates are suitable for scholarships at that school, from a mathematical perspective. I have supported students in making their UCAS applications, as well as writing their UCAS references on behalf of the school. I am happy to support where I can in these broader areas, where I feel I am able, not necessarily during scheduled lesson time.
Now I am working solely as a tutor, allowing me to focus on the needs of, and the progress that my students are making a challenge which I love. In respect of being an Examiner for Edexcel, I anticipate that my first involvement will be from the 2018 Exam series.
I have experience teaching students with a range of documented learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD and Aspergers. That said, every individual has their own learning styles and needs, whether documented or not, academic or not. I always aim to adapt my style according to the individual.
If you have specific aims which are not listed, eg, preparation for entrance exams to particular schools, some A Level modules again, feel free to run these by me.

Experience: I have taught for over 12 years and am experienced in both the State and Independent sector, from years 6 to 13, KS2, KS3, GCSE and A Level (C1, C2, C3, C4, M1 and S1 more recently). I have marked ISEB Common Entrance papers at 13+ too.
I have tutored individuals from years 6-13, and adult learners. This has ranged from exam preparation and exam-paper practice, retake GCSE and A levels, general keeping up with classwork for students struggling to really grasp in class concepts as well as they would like, homework struggles, curriculum catch up for students who have studied abroad and are moving to UK, adult learner GCSE Maths for employment purposes, including students with a range of learning needs, most often dyslexia. I have in the past taken one-off lessons, as well as routine regular sessions.
My PGCE (Teaching qualification) is from Oxford University.
I have a TEFL qualification and have taught English as a Foreign Language to children and adults.
I have written UCAS references and guided students when writing their applications.
I can communicate to a basic level in Polish.
DBS Check: Yes

Feedback For Katherine (3)

Katherine has been an excellent tutor for our son. After an intensive couple of weeks preparing our son for a test that would determine if he could move up a Maths set, he then passed with flying colours. We are looking forward to the next couple of years of ongoing support from a great tutor. We could not recommend her highly enough.
