Information about Sophie
I am currently doing a PhD in French Philosophy at King`s College London, having achieved a 1st Class undergraduate degree and Distinction at Master`s level, both from New College, University of Oxford. I have always loved learning, and most of all want to try to pass on this love to students to help them get as much out of studying as possible, gaining skills for life and genuine excitement about the material covered as well as excellent academic results.
I am happy to teach French, Philosophy, and English Language and Literature, and to help prepare students for the 11+ and 13+, having myself sat the Common Entrance Scholarship Exam at 13. I am also able to give general help on reading and writing to younger students, and at the other end of the school experience, to give guidance to students applying to University, especially Oxbridge, for humanities degrees. Please get in touch if you have any questions!
Availability: My PhD schedule is very flexible - I would be able to teach weekends and most weekdays, and can commit to regular sessions over the next year.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I currently teach French language and culture to undergraduates at KCL and have tutored in a variety of different environments over the last few years, from primary school level, through GCSE, A-Level, Cambridge Pre-U, Oxbridge interview preparation, to adult language learners. I am therefore experienced at working with students of any age, and am more than happy to adapt the style and content of the sessions to each individual student`s needs.

Sophie has been very professional in her preparation for our daughters lessons.
On a personal level our daughter really enjoys her interactions with Sophie.
After only 2 lessons its hard to evaluate how effective the teaching is but the signs are good

Sophie has been great for my daughter, not only does she have knowledge in all three areas needed for her A levels she has been super helpful and accommodating in all matters. I think it helps that Sophie is young enough to related to an 18 year old and still part of the exam system and so understands exactly what is expected of students. Highly recommended.
