Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic fully qualified Science teacher with a degree in Physics. I also have experience in tutoring Mathematics at KS3, GCSE and for the Common Entrance Examinations.

I have recently returned back to Herne Bay, the area I grew up in after completing my Undergraduate degree in Physics and Astrophysics at Sussex University, then going on to do my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education also at Sussex and spending a year at a School near Brighton.

Since embarking on my teaching career I have been keen to enthuse students with a passion for Science, particularly for my favourite form, Physics. During my career thus far I have the pleasure of teaching Physics and mixed Science to students of ages 11 to 16, as well as A-Level Physics and BTEC Level 3 Applied Science. I fully embrace and enjoy the challenge of teaching all the subject areas of Science.

I am currently a Science teacher at a Grammar school located in Ramsgate. I teach mixed Science to year 7 and 8 students then specialise in teaching Physics with students past this year group. Teaching at this school has given me further experience in how to enable students to succeed at the highest levels, particularly under the new more rigorous testing framework (GCSE`s and A-levels).

September 2017-June 2018, Science Tutor

Since returning to the area I took on two students. The first was a year 6 student who enrols at the Junior Kings school. I worked with him to help him improve his exam technique in Science and Maths ready for his scholarship exams which he went on to excel in. My other student was a delightful year 11 girl who was lacking in confidence in her ability. Through some coaching on exam technique and some revision on content she was less confident in I am pleased to report she went on to achieve grade 9`s in all three Sciences.

September 2016 - June 2017, Maths tutor

I took on three students in my previous location of Brighton and tutored them in Mathematics. One was a year 8 girl who was lacking in confidence but made rapid progress throughout our time together. MY proudest achievement with this student was making her look forward to doing maths with me on a Saturday morning!
I tutored another year 8 for their Common Entrance Exam so that they were able to progress successfully into Brighton College, a private school with entrance criteria. This students hurdle was confidence under pressure. Through coaching them in exam technique he was able to improve his grades and I am pleased to say he comfortably passed his Mathematics exam and gained entrance into the school.
My final student was in Year 11 and I was working with them to ensure they secured the grade they needed to successfully continue with their post-16 education. They too made rapid progress by having their confidence built up and by myself ensuring they are understanding core concepts required to succeed. I look forward to hearing how she has done on results day.

I have had the pleasure of starting my teaching career at this school. I taught students from Year 7 to 12 helping students to obtain GCSE`s, A Levels and BTEC qualifications.

April 2016 - May 2016 Science Teacher, Ifield Community College

As part of my initial teacher training I was placed at Ifield to enhance my teacher training further. Whilst there I gained experience in teaching A-Level Physics to a year 13 class. I completed the course with them and then spent several lessons revising material with them for two of their upcoming exams. This gave me excellent experience in how to revise the topic with students effectively.

September 2015- March 2016 Science Teacher, Peacehaven Community School

As part of my initial teacher training I had the pleasure of embarking on my initial placement at Peacehaven Community School. I made rapid progress during this time and have recently secured a full time position as a Physics Teacher at Steyning Grammar School.

Before embarking on my PGCE I volunteered once a week in the science department at Longhill High School. I worked with a range of students whilst there.

Physics is a passion of mine and is why I undertook my degree in BSc Physics with Astrophysics, obtaining an Honours degree.
