Information about Hannah

I am Hannah, an experienced Early Years teacher with a strong passion for supporting children to reach their full potential. I firmly believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

With over eight years of teaching experience, I have developed a nurturing and engaging approach to learning. As a parent to a nine-year-old who is thriving academically, I understand first-hand the impact that dedicated support and encouragement can have on a child’s development.

I am committed to making learning enjoyable and accessible, as I believe children are most motivated when they are actively engaged and inspired. For younger learners, I incorporate play-based approaches to create meaningful and exciting learning experiences that reduce anxiety and build confidence.

In addition to my teaching background, I have experience in journalism, which has strengthened my skills in communication, reading, and writing. I also bring a creative approach to my work, allowing me to design engaging and dynamic learning opportunities tailored to each child’s needs

Experience: I have extensive experience working with children aged 6 months to 7 years across a variety of educational settings. I am currently a Reception class teacher in a primary school and also teach children aged 5–7 in a weekend church setting.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, I have developed a strong understanding of early childhood development, including supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Prior to entering the teaching profession, I studied Journalism at university, where I obtained my degree. I began my career in education as a student teacher in a Children’s Centre while completing a postgraduate qualification in Early Childhood Education. After achieving Early Years Teacher Status, I worked as a Teaching Assistant with children aged 3–4, before progressing to a class teacher role with 2–3-year-olds. I am now a qualified teacher teaching reception.

I later broadened my experience by working in a private nursery setting with children aged 2–5. This allowed me to gain valuable insight into different approaches to early years education. Following this, I returned to the primary school setting, where I continue to teach and support young learners.

My teaching experience includes delivering phonics, early mathematics, science, and early reading and writing. I use the Development Matters framework to monitor and assess children’s progress. For younger learners, I adopt a play-based approach to teaching and learning, ensuring that activities are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and tailored to each child’s individual needs.
