I have now retired from full-time teaching in school/college but still enjoy teaching individual students, in person or online using skype or zoom. In our one-to-one sessions the areas covered are tailored to the individual`s particular requirements and needs, and I am able to respond immediately to areas of difficulty which become apparent. I am a patient, friendly and approachable teacher and am always willing to answer your questions. I have a wide range of resources to suit all learning styles. I have seen my own 3 children through the education process and understand how anxious students can become, so I will always be supportive and encouraging. I also have 2 dogs and 4 cats, but these will not be present in our sessions!

Availability: Available most weekdays and at weekends. Very flexible and session times can vary if required.

Experience: Highly experienced Biology teacher/lecturer, previously Head of Biology and Head of Science in sixth form college and grammar school. Experience of teaching all age groups and abilities up to and including foundation degree level, but with particular expertise in A level Biology. I have tutoring experience in all of the A level Biology syllabuses currently offered. My classes in school and college always achieved well above the national average levels and previous tutees have achieved excellent results, some achieving 3 or more grades above their expected grades. Their destinations have included Medicine and Veterinary Science at top universities.
I have also previously worked for LEAs teaching students out of school for various reasons, supporting all subject areas. I am available to teach Maths and English to GCSE (I have A levels and teaching experience in both subjects), with help in other subjects if required.
