Information about Cameron

About Me:
I have had a passion for the life sciences for many years now. I grew up in London and did Pre-U and A-levels so I understand the system very well. I graduated from Oxford with a 1st class integrated masters in Biochemistry and am now working on a PhD in protein engineering here in [contact detail removed]. I have tutored many students in London and Oxford as well as mentoring Oxbridge applicants. In my spare time, I enjoy cycling, climbing and travelling!

About my lessons:
I believe that students learn best when they are comfortable and when the subject matter is organised clearly. I like to take time to understand which areas a student needs to work on and to make organised lesson plans so that students can see their progress through the material. In my lessons: I typically go over previous material to help consolidate information;; I will then explore a new topic in general with a student;; and then I use example questions to engage with the topic. At GCSE and A-Level, exam technique is crucial and I take time to teach students good technique as well as the content material as I believe this makes all the difference.

Availability: I am available in the evenings during the week (after 5pm) and on weekends (between 11am-3pm).

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I have tutored a wide range of students for the past 3 years in London and in Oxford in both Chemistry and Biology GCSE and A-Level. I was part of the team that developed the Biology, Chemistry and Maths learning materials for the educational website Seneca (which some of you may have used) which is now one of the leading international education services. This involved writing revision material, guides and practise questions to be as engaging and informative as possible based on neuroscience data. In addition, I have experience mentoring students taking Oxbridge interviews, particularly in the life sciences.

I came through the British GCSE and A-Level system, receiving 12 A* GCSEs and 4 A* A levels. I also have experience with the Pre-U Biology syllabus. I am well organised and enjoy sharing my experience and helping students understand their subjects in more detail. I also have experience working in large corporations and various start-up companies that I am happy to talk to students about if they are interested.
