Information about Michaela
I love maths, I love numbers, I love quirky things about numbers. When I was at school I wanted to be a maths teacher so I could spend all day doing maths. I enjoyed maths from first starting school, I received a maths scholarship for secondary school and went on to university and gained a degree in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics. I really love numbers.
Since having my own children I have left behind my career in banking and am now tutoring students in maths from primary through to year 11.
I appreciate that not everyone else feels the same way as me about numbers. Students may have limited confidence in their maths skills, so I will work at building this confidence up by embracing what they can already do (everyone can do some maths) and developing this further by mixing in elements to challenge them.
Im patient, giving all students time to think things through for themselves. Im flexible when required, and can also provide support to those with SEN. I firmly believe that with the right support, anyone can enjoy maths.
I prefer to tutor the student separately from carers, but I am also happy for carers to be present if need be.
I operate a no homework policy up to year 8, however if any student wishes to do extra outside the sessions, Ill gladly go through what they have completed.
For senior level (year 7-11) home educated students I offer a 1.5 hour group sessions on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please get in touch if this is of interest to you.
Availability: Monday 6.30pm to 9.30pm
Tuesday 10am to 9.30pm
Wednesday 10am to 5.30pm
Willing to travel: Home Only
