Information about Ian

I am a fully qualified, graduate maths tutor who has enabled many students to achieve and often exceed their goals in KS3 and KS4 as well as adult maths tests and qualifications. In many cases, students have passed or better when teachers doubted they would make it.
Besides those who find maths at school hard to understand, I have had bad experiences of maths at school/ college, I have also worked successfully with those who have learning differences such as autism, dyslexia etc.
I am constantly in touch with other teachers and tutors and regularly attend conferences and webinars to keep my knowledge of syllabuses and teaching methods up to date.

Availability: Currently, I am available at 1130, 230, 4pm, 530pm and 7pm on some weekdays.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have been tutoring successfully for 20 years,
I aim to see maths as my student does and work from that base.
Many students find `difficulty interpreting maths questions, especially when it gets to algebra and word questions etc. I work successfully showing them how to overcome this.
I keeps things as relaxed as possible with some humour as this helps learning.
I am credited by students and parents with being very good at removing maths fear, increasing confidence and overcoming learning differences.
I use colour, diagrams, short cuts, stories and put -mathematical language into words that can be understood. Where it helps, I explain the origins of processes and point out connections between ideas, which can usually reduce sheer memory work.
I want each student to say `Wow I can do that now.`
