I have taught numeracy and mathematics for over ten years to students of all ages and abilities, including those with SEN, and able to cover both functional skills and GCSE syllabuses as well as school key stages one through to four.

I believe that one teaching style does not fit all students and have a wide knowledge and expertise of the different techniques currently being used in schools to develop students early knowledge of basic numeracy. But, at the same time, I am also keen to learn and develop any other techniques or approaches that would benefit the progress of any particular student I tutor.

I believe that information and communication technology can be used to encourage the student to practice and revise skills and techniques outside of the formal one to one teaching lessons I will provide. Many of these are freely available on the web and I will be able to advise on which of these I feel are most suitable for any specific student.

I am enthusiastic about the subject of mathematics. But I also know how difficult it can seem to many of us to learn. Through professional and personal experience I have learned how to recognise the mathematical misconceptions that can continue to hinder any student`s learning or understanding of the subject, and the patience to help correct these so they can move on again on their own.
