Information about Eugene

I`m Eugene, an Imperial College graduate and currently working in energy market research and tutoring part time for an agency, looking to transition to tutoring full time.

I am passionate in improving others and in the general activity of coaching.

I have familiarised myself with the (EDEXCEL, AQA & OCR) GCSE maths examination and syllabus, but will be looking to take on the sciences later on.
As a native Hong Konger raised in the UK, I can assist with language barriers that involve Mandarin or Cantonese.

APPROACH:
Depending on what is preferred, I can be hands off and just help pupils with their homework or pending issues, or I can provide a longer-term relationship with structured plans and targets. The latter is recommended for the best results:

- In the introductory session, I will break down the syllabus with my tutee and first see what they are most in need of development.
- From there on I will then formulate a plan by breaking down said points of development into basic concepts and then provide basic questions/problems for the tutee to address, and then tackle exam-style questions.
- I will also provide learning material along the way. (Maths has less rote learning than other subjects, but still has some! Formulae and rules mostly)
- Further along in the tutoring journey and closer towards exams I will help my tutee execute mock papers as a whole.

Maths might be difficult to execute but easy to conceptualise and compartmentalise. Address your weaknesses and we can have a better mathematician holistically.

Availability: My current job has work hours until 7pm most days. So I am currently only able to do weekends or late weekdays after 7pm before I transition fully. I am happy to do both in person or online, but online is preferable for convenience benefits to both parties as well as safer in the current covid-19 situation.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Taking on part time responsibilities tutoring (maths and non verbal reasoning) for an agency specialised in helping overseas student enter prestigious UK private schools (at 6th form and year 9 entry).

I have experience coaching peers through their studies whilst at university but am looking to widen my positive influence.

Aside from GCSE content, my current professional role requires me to provide training junior members of my team, a part of my job that I enjoy and excel in the most.

I have a degree from Imperial College London, a well renowned STEM institution . Since then I have had numerous experiences in the financial, energy and charity sectors.

I achieved an A* in maths GCSE and an A in maths A level around a decade ago.
I found fulfilment in not only striving for these grades but also helping my fellow students in subjects they struggled in.
