I graduated from Oxford in 2018 with a master`s degree in biochemistry, having started tutoring in 2015. I think teaching science requires a lot of questions to be asked, both by the tutee and the tutor, so I`m always asking questions to work out exactly what my students know about the topic we`re working on so we can iron out any misunderstandings and build a proper comprehension of the subject together. Learning to just parrot the correct answers is an incredibly unsatisfying and ultimately pointless way of learning, so I avoid that as much as possible and encourage my students to think about the theory behind what they`re expected to learn, so that they can work out the answers in exams rather than relying on answers they crammed in a panic.
I`m a very relaxed person - I don`t think people learn well in stressful situations, and so I`m always happy to have a laugh or go off topic for a minute if I think it`ll help my students concentrate better for the rest of the session. I`m also a very patient person, which means I`m very happy to spend an entire hour on a single idea if that`s what we need to do. I`ve spent enough time tutoring to know that some concepts just don`t work in some people`s heads, and so I`m always comfortable spending time working on something from different angles if it helps the student.
I`ve spent enough time tutoring all boards at all levels to have a comprehensive understanding of what is required of students, as well as the intricacies of difficult topics, and am completely assured in my ability to get these ideas across to my students.

Availability: Mornings after 10 except Mondays, afternoons and evenings until 7pm, and weekends if necessary but not ideal!

Experience: I`ve done 2300+ hours of tutoring of various clients and feel like I feel confident in my ability to explain concepts to people and also in my ability to engage students!

I`ve helped students get 9s at GCSE and get the A*s and As at A Level they needed to get into their first choice universities, as well as working with university students to help them with subject areas they were struggling with.

I`ve also run several accelerated courses to take groups through entire GCSEs in 2 weeks - if you`d be interested in this for a student or several, let me know and I can set one up.

If you`re a student of biology, biochemistry or a related science and would like help proofreading, editing or planning essays, or you have a worksheet/topic you don`t understand, let me know the topics and problems and I`ll be see if it`s something I`m knowledgeable about! I`m strongest in protein biochemistry, cell biology, oncology, metabolism and mathematical areas (e.g. work on gibbs free energy, dilutions etc.) so if it`s very far from this, I might not be able to help.
