Information about Kate
I am an experienced maths teacher. When I retired I found I missed being around young people and so am now working as a private tutor.
I very much enjoy spending time with people, getting to understand their needs and helping them to progress. It is very rewarding to see people gaining in confidence as their understanding of the subject grows.
Other than maths? I am a grandma and spend lots of time with my daughter and her family and with the children at my church.
Availability: I currently am fully booked. Sorry about that!
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have spent a lifetime in education.
I have taught in junior, middle and secondary schools, worked as a private tutor and worked with the Hospital and Home Tuition service where I gained invaluable experience in working with youngsters who were experiencing difficulties in some area of their lives.
My degree is in maths but I originally qualified as a junior school teacher. I have taught all ages and abilities, including preparing students to read maths at university.
Since retiring I have been working as a private tutor which I very much enjoy. This year the exam students I worked with were one student who was hoping for a grade A in maths at GCE, one who was hoping for a grade 7 in maths at GCSE and two hoping for 4s or 5s. I have also been working with students in years 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10.
I am currently working for a level 2 qualification with the Skills Council in Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties. Many of the students who come to me for help have some specific difficulties, even if these have not been diagnosed. I hope to be able to help them better as I work through this course.
