I graduated with a First class Honours in BSc Chemistry. I then went on to complete a PGCE the following year and have been teaching GCSE sciences and Chemistry A-Level since. I have been tutoring science for 6 years.

I enjoy creating lessons and resources to help my students grasp concepts and understand the journey taken to get to the answer rather than rote learning. This allows students to develop a metacognitive approach to learning throughout the GCSE/ A-Level curriculum. In my years of tutoring, I have ed how to adapt and cater to the needs of my mentees. I have become very familiar with the science specifications for GCSE & Chemistry A-level. I use a variety of assessment techniques but mainly past exam questions to check for understanding and challenge students in order for them to reach their full potentials.

In a typical lesson I will begin with a short quiz/ assessment on the topic of focus to identify areas for development. I use a range of different resources including worksheets, exam questions and simplified brief notes. I mark the exam questions and give constructive feedback and follow up tasks. Understanding what exam questions are asking for, and having the ability to pinpoint key information is an essential skill needed to reach the higher grades.

Experience: Over the past 6 years I have tutored many students 1-to-1 and in small groups, focussing on developing higher quality exam practise and improving grades in GCSE Science and A-level Chemistry.

I have managed my own students along with their progress, keeping everything organised and efficient.
My last A-Level group managed to get 100% A*-C grades!
