Experience: I have extensive experience with all major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR (A & B) for Physics, and Edexcel for Mathematics. I enjoy tutoring learners of all ages and have provided private tuition for over 15 years, supporting secondary-school students as well as adults seeking to deepen or extend their subject knowledge.

Summary of teaching experience and track record:
• 15+ years’ experience providing private tuition in Physics and Mathematics
• Extensive experience with AQA, Edexcel, and OCR (A & B) Physics, and Edexcel Mathematics

• Proven track record of significant improvements in student exam grades (references available)
• Supported many students in achieving the grades required for university entry

I was awarded an Institute of Physics Teacher Training Scholarship in 2012 (one of only 100 awarded nationally). The assessment process required demonstration of outstanding subject knowledge in Physics, alongside the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences at secondary level.

Tutoring Approach:

My primary goal for every student is to achieve clear, measurable progress in their subject. As students learn in different ways, I place strong emphasis on identifying each learner’s individual style in order to maximise understanding, motivation, and confidence. I aim to make lessons both informative and enjoyable, while fostering independent thinking and long-term subject mastery. Summary of my teaching approach:

• Identify areas of weakness while building on existing strengths
• Adapt teaching methods to suit each student’s learning style
• Encourage independent problem-solving using students’ own ideas
• Teach core principles to enable students to tackle complex and unfamiliar problems
• Where helpful, explore topics beyond the syllabus to strengthen understanding
• Monitor progress through structured exercises and regular assessments
• Prepare students thoroughly for exams, including past papers and exam technique
• Set homework regularly, with completion expected by the following lesson

My broad professional background allows me to teach with clarity, enthusiasm, and maturity, helping students relate scientific and mathematical concepts to real-world applications and the commercial environment.
