Information about Adrian
Hello and thank you for your interest. I have taught history at secondary level for the past 16 years. I have extensive experience at both GCSE and A Level. As a result, I have a very good understanding of the content, the exam requirements and exam skills needed to be successful.
I have also worked as an external examiner, marking exam papers, which has enabled me to further understand the specific requirements of the history exam at both levels. To this end, I have created a range of revision resources to assist pupils and which I would be able to offer during tutoring sessions.
I have joined the tutorhunt website as my wife, an experienced RE teacher, also tutors at home and enjoys it immensely.
It would be a pleasure to tutor your son/daughter so please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
Availability: Most evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: My first degree was in History and Educational Studies at Lancaster University. I also have a Masters in Ancient Greek History and Archaeology from the University of Nottingham (distinction). I have a lifelong passion for history which is not restricted to the classroom. As a teacher, I head a very successful and popular, with the students, department.
Throughout my time as a teacher, I have always enjoyed seeing the students achieve their potential, especially on exams results day. But the greatest satisfaction comes from the journey taken in the classroom and helping students develop their skills and understanding, but also develop an understanding of and a passion for the importance of history.
Currently, my A Level specialism is the Tudors, a very popular topic but also a very demanding one. In the past I have also taught Russian history and the Vietnam Conflict. At GCSE I currently teach the AQA course which includes the topics of Britain: Health and the People (the equivalent of the old Medicine Through Time course), Germany 1890-1945, Conflict and Tension 1890-1918 and 1918-1939, and Elizabethan England.
