Information about Andrew Ka Pok

I am Ka Pok, who was a lecturer teaching IB program and English language courses (both adult and adolescent). Having obtained a Master of Art in Philosophy (Merit) from Durham University, United Kingdom, I have worked as a freelance tutor (geography, religious studies and english) last year, although I have been a part time private tutor for three years during my undergraduate study in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2013. Now I am studying my PhD in Theology and Religious Studies in the University of Glasgow.

In my teaching of religious studies, I focus on the application of religious and philosophical ideas in real life ethical issues, e.g. abortion, same-sex marriage and equality. Instead of introducing abstract theories, my teaching emphasizes on application of reasoning and theories. I know that most students taking the philosophy course may have little knowledge in philosophy and therefore my course will be student-oriented so as to arouse their interests and cultivate their independent critical thinking.
