I am currently working part-time as an Associate College Lecturer, teaching Functional/GCSE English and Maths and am a Functional and GCSE Maths examiner with two examining boards. I am a Mensa member and began tutoring in French, English and Maths after acquiring my Degree in 1982 after which I became an Associate of the Institute of Linguists. For a time I also undertook translation work for the local Chamber of Commerce. In more recent years I gained qualifications in ESOL and Membership of the Institute for Learning (now known as the Society for Education and Training) and acquired DTLLS.
I also spent 5 years teaching ESOL and Employability Skills in a local multicultural centre and also as a visiting college lecturer.
I speak, read and write French well and also have a working knowledge of German and Polish. I have always had an interest in Maths and my first job was as a computer programmer for the organisation then known as British Steel which I left to have a family. I have four children and six grandchildren. For 20 years I also held the position of Brass Tutor in an independent primary school, as I am principal trombonist in Rotherham Town Brass Band.
I am therefore able to communicate effectively with learners of all ages and backgrounds and, being familiar with institutional requirements from primary to adult, can offer tuition in a variety of subjects at various levels.
I offer private tuition on weekday evenings and at weekends strictly in my own home which has a purpose-made study with exterior access.

Experience: I have over 30 years experience as an independent tutor teaching English, Maths, French and ESOL at various levels and have excellent communication skills with people of all ages and backgrounds.
