Information about Gabrielle

I am a dedicated and hard working secondary school teacher in a rigorous, high achieving academy in Hackney. The school I currently work in is known for producing outstanding student results, with students going to University of Cambridge and Oxford. Students grades on average at my current school are one whole grade higher than the national average predicted grades across the country. This means if you are predicted a 6, you will come out with a 7 or more.
I currently have experience teaching AQA biology and chemistry. My biology is stronger of the two, as I have a 2:1 undergraduate degree in biology from University of Leeds. I also completed my PGCE postgraduate degree at the University of East London. I worked in an outstanding comprehensive school in Tottenham, followed by a private school in North London during my PGCE. I then went on to complete my NQT at Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy, where I am currently and have been for 3 years.
This school has extremely high expectations, with a well-structured curriculum and excellent quality teaching resources and continuous weekly teacher training.
I have a rich body of resources, which I will use to aid learning and support my pupils. I am experienced in knowing the misconceptions of students, therefore being able to acknowledge and predict common mistakes to rectify or prevent these.
Sessions can be 1 or 2 hours long, weekends or weekdays. I am flexible with timings and will preplan our session so that it is tailored to you. Our first session will be free, which is just to gauge your strengths and weaknesses and to see if we are a suitable match.

Availability: I am available evenings and weekends currently.

Experience: I obtained A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and French at the highly-academic Woodhouse College in 2013. In June 2018 I was awarded a 2:1 BSc Biology Honours Degree (International) with study year abroad at the University of Leeds. During this time, I obtained 80% and above in a diverse range of modules including ‘Medical Virology’, ‘Toxicology’, ‘Evolutionary Biology’ and ‘Experimental Design’. My outstanding achievements were recognised by the university by being placed on the Dean’s list. After graduation, I started her PGCE in Secondary Biology at University of East London, where I received a 1st Class grade for my final research class based project on “Metacognition in the Classroom”. My efforts were acknowledged by the Subject Lead Lecturer and were noted as the highest grade in the course, for its originality and depth. During my PGCE I taught at two placement secondary schools in London. One in a fast-paced, challenging and outstanding school in inner London, Woodside High School. The other was a small tight-knit independent grammar school in North London. I undertook her NQT year at the rigorous, high-achieving academy, Mossbourne. The school is known for its Value Added being 1 whole grade above the national average, with some students going to the University of Cambridge and Oxford. Here I learnt how to be an excellent teacher in her field. During observations I am often complimented for my calm nature and eager enthusiasm in the classroom as well as expert subject knowledge. I am often praised for my ability to make students relate their learning to previous knowledge. Most recently I conducted a whole school assembly on ‘Children’s Mental Health’, which was described as “innovative and thought-provoking” by one of the senior staff members. At the moment I have taken on an additional role as well as being a Biology Teacher, I am now also a Learning Support Teacher. This is a special needs role, in which I carry out 1:1 teaching with students with a diverse range of needs including ADHD, ASD, and Speech and Language Communication needs. I find this rewarding I am allowing equal chances for all students regardless of some barriers to education.
