Who Does Dr Mitchell currently Tutor?
Mitchell currently tutors the following:
(a) Year 7 & 8 students on a unique "Early Exposure to GCSE programme" - in summary this means Dr Mitchell teaches the year 7 and 8 curriculum with focus more on the "method marks" of how students get an answer more so than just getting the answer itself. This style of approach works with students of all abilities in maths and students find this a great metacognitive approach style learning of how to approach Maths.
(b) Year 9-11 students: Higher GCSE Maths syllabus.
(c) Year 10-11 students: GCSE Statistics
(d) Year 10-11 students: Additional Maths
(e) Personal Statement 2 hour workshop for students applying for Russell Group Universities.
(f) MMI/Panel style Interview workshop for students applying for Medicine/Dentistry
Tutoring Style:
Dr Mitchell`s tutoring style is very interactive and involves a lot of "metacognitive approach" style teaching where he challenges students to think a lot more about their methodology of how they got their answer.
Through this Dr Mitchell can guide their thinking to be geared more towards the methodology required for the exam to gain the method marks as well as to approach new challenging questions in the same topic area.
Dr Mitchell prefers to teach mainly via a modular approach which combines stronger topics with weaker topics in order for the tutees to apply what they have learnt to the more difficult topics. He also provides regular testing to ensure frequent measurement of his tutees revision as well as promoting an active attitude in his tuttees to be constantly revising.
