Information about Lucile
I am a fifth year medical student at University College London.
Although I have grown up in London I am half french and half chinese (Cantonese) and am fluent in both, although to a more colloquial degree in the latter. Throughout my academic career I have attended English schools I was awarded the William Johnston Yapp scholarship at 13+ entry to Wycombe Abbey School, and later moved to Westminster School for sixth form.
I thoroughly enjoy sports and have been playing for RUMS Womens Football Club 1st XI since starting university. I am also a keen cross country runner and have run as part of the London Team at the National Cross Country Championships (ESSA) (2012).
In my free time I enjoy playing the violin (grade 8) and am part of an orchestra, and have sung in several choirs. I have completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh and am now working toward the Gold Award.
Availability: Available on weekday evenings and weekends from September 2016 onwards.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring a young girl since 2012. I have covered KS3 and GCSE material with her in primarily Maths and Sciences, but also in French, Latin and History. For the past four years I have had weekly 2-4 hour sessions with her. she has taken her GCSEs this summer (which I am confident she will have done very well in!) and I am very sad that we shall be parting ways as she embarks on her new adventure to boarding school. (If you would like to contact the family for references they have assured me they are more than happy to oblige.)
The above family had friends who temporarily moved their son to London from his international school in Milan. They suggested I help him cover his mathematical syllabus during his absence from school. During his one month stay we covered AS level Maths over a couple of weekly two hour sessions.
In my second year of university I was a transition mentor for first year medical students. This required leading group sessions of peer-assisted learning and filling gaps in knowledge where necessary.
During my third year I have been a peer assistant for anatomy teaching of first year medical students. This involves explaining the application of theoretical knowledge as well as helping students assimilate material covered in lectures.
During this last academic year I have been an accredited tutor with Lionheart Education. Through them I have tutored GCSE Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Although I have also done some one-off sessions with the company, I have worked consistently with one girl providing two 2 hour sessions per week throughout the year in GCSE maths (she was looking to improve from a predicted grade D to grade B). I am very excited to hear about her results come August!
