Information about Connie

I am currently a Teacher of medical science and of T level Health Science at a further education level and offer tutoring outside of my usual working hours. I also have experience in teaching Level 2 and 3 Health & Social Care.
I am in a fortune position of having industry experience in the healthcare sector as a qualified midwife and therefore specialise in both healthcare and science concepts.
I have a particular interest in access to nursing and midwifery education with a focus on anatomy and physiology, biological molecules, pharmaceutical elements, research techniques and laboratory techniques. Past students of mine have progressed to study in an array of disciplines inclusive of: midwifery, nursing, paramedic sciences, microbiology, pathology, psychology, radiography, medical laboratory technicians, social workers and more.

Availability: I am available some weekdays and evenings for a regular slot and for one off support.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: Education is not only multifaceted, but also ever-changing in terms of: the curriculum, entry requirements, awarding bodies, and course content. However, the one thing that does not change is learners achieve more when they have an active role and participation in their learning.
This informs the way I teach and means I work in a way which encompasses holistic learning; identifying students’ strengths and pushing these further whilst supporting in areas that need developing. All students have an active role in our tutoring sessions involving classroom technique and student-led learning.

I work closely with examiner reports and utilise these to inform exam technique and as a basis to support students throughout the year.
I utilise a technique known as retrieval practice regularly; this method ensures that students are not only learning new concepts, but are regularly retrieving past learning in order to retain information and knowledge.

I have completed a PGCE qualification which means I am a qualified Teacher.
I have a Higher National Diploma in access to nursing and midwifery.
I also have a degree in midwifery.

I can offer insight to the expectations of health and science job roles, offering context to your work and supports your academic work, assignments and learning.
I currently work in a sixth form college.
