Information about Gabriel
I am a PhD research student studying network behaviours of complex river systems at Queen Mary College, University of London. I have a First-Class Environmental Science Masters and graduated top of my class in 2015.
I am passionate about Science and Geography, and would like to help people to realise their potential in these subjects. Command of the English language has also been central to my academic success and enabling students to read, understand and write well is a skill I want to share. Lessons will be tailored to the needs of the student, should it be assistance with exam technique, through to teaching core aspects of a syllabus. For most students, degree level education is either the level they are studying at or the eventual goal. Critical thinking is essential at degree level (even more so at higher degree level) and is not fostered enough at an early age in education. A key part of my approach is not only to teach a subject, but to get students to engage critically with the subject material.
Availability: Available weekday early evenings, with weekday lessons possibly available upon request.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring at As Level since I started my PhD. I have had consistently good feedback about my tutoring and the development of my tutee and have seen improvements in mock exam results to achieving A grades in the last tests. I have also previously volunteered with an academic support programme at Key Stage 3 and GCSE.
