Maria Chiara

Maria is a London- based pianist/keyboard player/composer/tutor.

Straight after finishing a BA Jazz at Middlesex University, she started touring from June 2013 with the British artrock band These New Puritans for the “Field of Reeds” and “Spitting Stars” tour playing in Asia, USA, Mexico, Europe in festivals around the world and in venues such as the Barbican in London or The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles supporting Bjork.

She has performed, recorded and worked among other artists with These New Puritans, BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards nominated singer Coco Mbassi from Cameroon, Barns Courtney, Synergy Vocals, Heritage Orchestra, Stargaze Ensamble, Hungarian songwriter/producer Vera Jonas, multi-awarded guitar player Marton Fenyvesi, singer/guitarist Adedeji Adetayo, modern jazz group Blam! Quartet, large soul-jazz group Teotima Ensemble, Kinkajous, Liran Donin`s 1000 Boats, Mimika Ensemble, soul group Ephemerals, multi instrumentalist duo In a Sleeping Mood, experimental rock/jazz/avant-garde band Circuit, Oberon King Project, Tal Janes Quartet, Serge Ngando Quartet, Camilo Menjura Project, Captain of the Awesome Machine, Davide Basso Quartet, Soul Funktion, Pure Brass Quintet, La Clave Con Mezcal within clubs, venues and studios (such as Abbey Road Studios and Maida Vale BBC Studios) in London and festivals around UK, Europe, USA and Asia.

The debut album The Fall Dance, has been released by Odradek Records in November 2016. The launch campaign included a sold out shows at The Vortex Jazz Club and a 2017 UK tour with the support of the Arts Council England including another sold out concert at Pizza Express Jazz Club.

Hidden Seas is her critically acclaimed second album, following on from her 2016 debut The Fall Dance. She is a well-known name on the London scene – her keyboard skills much in demand – currently involved with a variety of musical projects including Liran Donin`s 1000 Boats, Kinkajous, Teotima, Moonfish, Rosie Turton and Jamie Leeming.

During her career, Argirò;;;; has developed her own style of jazz with a twist of contemporary genres inspired by her numerous tours with bands such as These New Puritans and drawing on a wide variety of influences including Radiohead, Shai Maestro, Tigran Hamasyan, Kneebody, Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Bjork, Jon Hopkins, Shostakovich and Scriabin.

She graduated cum laude Bachelor Degree in History, Science and Technique of Music (Ethnomusicology) at “Tor Vergata University of Rome”
and in BA Jazz at Middlesex University.

I`ve been teaching jazz, classical, rock, funk, world music, pop for the past 12 years.
I teach grades (both classical and jazz grades).
