Information about Rob
Rob successfully completed his degree in Sports Science from the University of Lincoln and initially started working with numerous Lincolnshire primary schools developing Physical Education. From this, Rob decided to step into full time education. This led him to pursue a School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme through the University of Hull from which he graduated as an Outstanding Practitioner.
Availability: I currently have availability most evenings & weekends. This is strongly down to the fact that the AQE extension has now been removed & the test cancelled.
Most of my tuition is now for students of 11+ but also willing to support KS1 & other KS2 students.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: He began teaching at a very successful school in Lincolnshire and quickly progressed to becoming Head of Year 6, responsible for securing high levels of success for over 90 students. Throughout his time here, and as well as becoming Subject Lead, Rob demonstrated exceptional application of the UK National Curriculum for all Key Stage 2 year groups, particularly in English and maths, where he consistently showed marked improvement in his students attainment through a variety of initiatives. He has also overseen & put in place a number of IEPs for students with Special Educational Needs within an assistant SENCO role, making sure that students were provided with a high-quality, nurturing structure which allowed them to make advanced progress. Rob is exceptionally keen on using innovative applications to improve learning, monitoring and assessment such as; GL assessment, Renaissance Learning, Bedrock Vocabulary, Effective Maths, MyOn, RisingStars, TTRockstars and TacklingTables.
His career progression continued and in 2019 he was invited to become a Close Associate of the Senior Leadership Team within his school, which he also supported by embarking on the prestigious NPQSL (National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership). Rob also has recent experience in supporting students to succeed with their common entrance exam, this includes 11+ (U.K) as well as the AQE (N.I).
`Failure is only a steppingstone to success,` is a motto he lives by, and he enjoys identifying the key characteristic of successful learning in each of his students. He challenges his students in a safe space, allowing them to practise content and skills as well as increasing their determination and resilience.
In his spare time, he enjoys mountaineering/hiking in the Mournes, raising money for charity through endurance events and going on walks with his family & golden retriever
