I am a friendly, approachable tutor who is always willing to adapt to suit the needs of individual students. I really enjoy working with young people and have always developed good working relationships with all my students. I believe that good teaching is a partnership. We can only achieve success if we work well together!

As a tutor who loves their subject, I want to inspire young people and change their perceptions about maths. Having worked as a mentor in a secondary school, I understand all too well that many students find maths difficult and fail to see the relevance to their everyday life. Maths opens many doors to interesting careers and I can help all students achieve a good grade.

Maths is a fascinating subject that has something to interest everyone. I believe that, rather than memorise formulae and perform repetitive calculations, maths should engage students through enjoyable activities that develop logical thinking and problem solving. I don’t believe that people are born with a natural talent for maths. Anyone can succeed with determination, practice and the right teacher.

Availability: I`m currently fully booked with students and therefore not available to tutor.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: Three years working as an academic mentor in a secondary school in Birmingham. I have taught GCSE (foundation and higher) and A-level (old and new specifications).

I have a PhD in bioinformatics and degrees in mathematics, biochemistry and computer science.
