Information about Susan

Methodology
I draw upon my knowledge of the psychology of motivation, learning, and memory to help my students optimise their ability to learn and succeed in their coursework examinations. I expect students to prepare for lessons in order to derive maximum value from the time we spend to together. Students are welcome to send me essay questions, lecture slides as well as exam questions prior to our meeting for me to review and prepare for the lesson.
I am conscientious and committed in my approach to helping students succeed but equally, I emphasise to my students that they need to be highly committed to doing the necessary amount of study in order to fulfill their academic potential. I aim to make lessons and the topics we cover as interesting as possible, as my experience of tutoring has taught me how much students’ comprehension and memory is optimised when we engage with study material with an inquisitive and curious mind.
The ability to learn can be reduced due to emotional difficulties and using my experience as a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner enables me to support students with developing strategies and techniques to better manage stress, low mood and anxiety.
