Information about Jamie
I am an enthusiastic and commited teacher with 3 years experience teaching GCSE science and A-level Biology at an outstanding school in Hampshire. I am taking time away to care for my first child, and this gives me time to see individual students for high quality intervention and a more personalised approach to learning.
I entered teaching late, after a career in Microbiology in the NHS as a Biomedical Scientist and studying Graduate Entry Medicine at Nottingham. Throughout my career I have enjoyed teaching - to first and second year medical students or trainee scientists in the lab, and so the step into formal teaching was natural.
I enjoy teaching to encourage deeper understanding and enjoyment, but appreciate the realities of our current examination system and have a pragmatic approach to exam technique practice.
In addition to academic tutoring I also offer help for students who are aiming to study medicine, with entrance exams or coaching. Group interviews with practicing clinicians are available twice per application cycle.
