Information about Adam

I am passionate about chemistry and science more broadly, enabling me to take challenging concepts and break them down in a way the student is able to comprehend, using past paper questions to test understanding.

I am currently finishing my PhD, where I have been heavily involved in small group (one or two students) teaching, and have a proven track record of helping students achieve top marks in a-level and university exams.

Prior to this I completed an MSci in Chemistry, graduating with a 1st.

Availability: I am available most evenings and weekends for 1-to-1 tuition (face to face/online) in the Wimbledon area (and surrounding area if close to the tube line).

Now taking bookings for the 2018 academic year (September onwards) in A-level chemistry, biology and mathematics. I no longer offer GCSE tuition.

Willing to travel: 8 miles

Experience: During my PhD I have tutored over 50 students, with 100+hours of face-to-face and online tuition.

My general approach to tutorials is to first identify and correct gaps in the students understanding and then apply this to practice exam questions, helping them to gain confidence in the subject and learn how to craft a clear, succinct answer. I also believe that science is about more than just passing exams, bringing real world examples into the tutorial to demonstrate the applications and importance of the topics being covered.

Subjects + specifications:

I`m most familiar with the following A-level specifications, but all of the major exam boards (OCR, AQA, Edexcel, WJEC) cover similar material, the only difference being with the style and format of exams.

AS/A2 Chemistry: AQA and OCR
AS/A2 Biology: OCR

In addition to academic tuition, I`ve previously helped students with the UKCAT and BMAT exams (medical school entrance exams), and Oxbridge applications where their school was unable to offer the support they needed.
