Information about Gerry
I have always been passionate about English Language and Literature and still love to read, enjoy and discuss the many aspects of language and its effects. I believe that it is my enthusiasm for my subject that continues to make me a dynamic and effective tutor and teacher. I have taught for over 32 years in a variety of secondary schools. However, I feel my 30 years as an examiner, moderator, speaking and listening moderator - for four different exam boards: CIE, AQA, OCR and Ed-excel - culminating in becoming a Principal Examiner for the Cambridge Board, that has given me the greatest insight in knowing exactly what the examiner wants from students at different stages. Setting, marking and moderating exams shines more light on how to prepare a student for an exam and how to study for different aspects of Reading, Writing and Literature. I love working with students and watching them progress and enjoy these subjects as they gain more confidence. Knowing how to prepare for an exam is paramount, but the rest of the journey can be fun and exciting if you have someone, like myself, guiding you along the way.

I would like to say a big thank you to Gerry. She is a great professional. Gerry is very experienced and knowledgeable. Thanks to her, my son has passed his English GCSE with flying colours - 9 for English Language and 9 for English literature, even though English is not the first language for my son. I highly recommend Gerry to everyone who would like to pass GSCE successfully. Gerry, thank you very much!

Gerry did a great job in helping our son pass his English Language GCSE. She tailored her approach to suit his learning style and needs. She has great experience as an examiner which she used to coach him in specific areas of weakness and gave him the confidence and belief that he could pass. I would highly recommend her.
Tutors Response :
