Information about Mair
I am a fully qualified and practising English teacher. I have a first class degree in English Literature from Durham University, plenty of experience in one to one tutoring and have tutored pupils from KS3 to Common Entrance, GCSE and A-level success.
I am both friendly and approachable, and am committed to building the confidence of all those I teach, nurturing enthusiasm and a fresh love of the subject through more creative approaches to work. I plan sessions carefully according to the student`s needs, with a close focus on the requirements of the exam. I am able to support both language and literature including knowledge and understanding of set texts, technical accuracy, exam technique, creative and transactional writing, and fiction and non-fiction reading. I am also ready to support with background work on coursework if this is proving a problem.
I have always been judged a consistently Outstanding/Excellent teacher both in Ofsted/ISI inspections and internal performance management. I have an excellent track record of exam results, and am a busy member of St George’s College English department. If you are interested, please do get in touch!

Experience: I have been a teacher of English for over 14 years and worked as Head of Department for 5 of those years. I currently work as a member of St George’s College English Department. I have tutored numerous students in the past to great success and am happy to offer support to students from Year 5 to Year 13.

Unfortunately this hasn`t been a great experience. The tutor came back to me on the 30th of November saying she could help. I immediately paid the fee to you to purchase her contact details and she never replied to me again. I called, whats app`d and emailed and she never replied. It is such a pity that I had to pay the fee and never heard back.

Mair definitely knows how to get the best out of our 16 year old.
Within 2 lessons she was able to assess his ability, helping hugely with his confidence and learning after we were let down by our previous tutor. She is clearly skilled and totally committed.
We feel very lucky and grateful to have found Mair. Her positive and skilled teaching methods have impacted and given our son the belief in himself that is critical at this time.

Mair is an amazing teacher. She managed to get my daughter an A* and A in her ENGLISH GCSE last year. She was the best tutor we ever had - really knows how to get best from a student. My daughter was so delighted to have her in her final year of GCSE.
